Preservation of Local Heritage
Few residents of Appin are likely aware that there was once an Anglican Church in their village. The Diocese of Huron purchased three acres from John Sinclair in 1894. This land was the south corner of Thames Rd and Waterloo (Waterloo was later renamed Appin Rd / Glendon Dr). In 1896 a wooden frame church was built facing Thames Rd. The church remained at this corner for 22 years, when in 1918 the building was sold and removed.
Today a residential house sits at this south corner of Appin.
